Job Description
Summary :
Ability to provide high level technical hardware and software expertise, and effective and timely communication in support of the OS platforms ultimately enhancing MasterCards position as a leader in the industry.
Major Accountabilities :
- Design, develop, support and maintain operating system and associated software products acquired or developed to service our customers.
- Actively participate in planning the direction and implementation of data processing software as they relate primarily to operating systems and systems software.
- Complete status reports, implementations, troubleshooting and maintain project plans as required.
- Provide technical assistance to development programmers and customers to facilitate independent utilization of new and existing software.
- Keep informed of the latest developments in computer software and hardware technology as a basis for evaluations and recommendations that support the business requirements.
- Accurately document duties and procedures to aid the department in cross-training and absentee coverage.
- Support business disaster recovery procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Coordinate appropriate training to data center staff.
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a combination of equivalent experience and formal training / education.
Knowledge / Experience :
- 6+ years of extended experience in systems administration.
- Solid knowledge of operating systems, infrastructure software, communications, computer hardware and peripherals.
- Strong command of multi-platform OS, communication software and hardware, security software and application subsystems.
Skills / Abilities :
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills, capable of writing proposals, acting as a vendor liaison, work closely with management.
- Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.
- Ability to identify tasks which should be automated and then write the necessary scripts.
- Solid understanding of the OS and can perform system analysis and tuning.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts.
Work Conditions :
- Ability to adhere to a standard work schedule as defined by department, plus on-call rotation and after hours support and implementation as needed.
