Special Education Teacher
Location : Sandy, OR
Position Type : Full-Time
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify lesson plans, materials, and assessments.
- Monitor and assess student progress, using data to inform instructional adjustments and interventions.
- Communicate regularly with parents / guardians to discuss student progress, goals, and strategies for support.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to contribute to the development and review of IEPs.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records related to student performance and educational plans.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and engage in ongoing professional development.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Valid Oregon Teaching License with Special Education endorsement.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs and disabilities.
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and educational staff.
- Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
