Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Visiting Researcher for the Radiation Oncology / RadCaBio division of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, under the supervision of Dr. Bing Xia.
The primary responsibilities of the scholar are : to investigate the regulation of DNA repair and its influence on tumor response to treatment, to elucidate the mechanism by which loss or inhibition of BRCA1 / 2 and EHMT1 / 2 protein triggers an immune response, and to test novel combination therapies for the treatment of tripe negative breast cancer using mouse models.
Ideal candidates should have a PhD or MD degree with trainings in molecular & cell biology, cancer biology, or other relevant fields, with effective communication skills in oral and written English and competence in common computer applications, and have a background in relevant research as evidenced by a publication record consistent with the career level.
Must be competent in basic molecular and cell biology techniques, and basic bio-statistical tools. Prior experience in DNA repair, cancer research, and animal models are desirable but not required.
Among the key duties of this position are the following :
- Perform independent research relevant to the interest and field of cancer biology and radiation biology under the direction of the PI.
- Keep detailed records of procedures and experiments. Compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations pertinent to the research.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication.
- Help prepare grant proposals.
- Maintain an up to date understanding of the relevant literature.
- Give oral presentations of the research at lab meetings.
- Must possess effective oral and written English communication skills and ability to prepare scientific research papers / articles.
