JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
The Office of Physical Plant, Maintenance and Operations at Penn State Harrisburg invites applications for part-time groundskeepers.
Duties include mowing, weeding, mulching, planting, watering, pruning, and other related landscape functions.
Job Duties
- Mow and trim lawns, including athletic areas. Identify and report common lawn disease, weeds, and insects to supervisor.
- Plant, transplant, prune, weed, feed, cultivate, and remove trees, flowers, and shrubs.
- Operate mowers, spreaders, light construction / landscape equipment.
- Set up safety equipment and barriers around work zone.
- Perform vehicle and equipment checks, report issues or concerns to supervisor.
- Remove brush, leaves, grass clippings, paper, spoil, and rubbish from walks, roads, curbs, parking lots, lawns, and other University property.
- Identify common flowers, trees, and shrub insect pests and disease to supervisor.
- Report unusual job conditions to supervisor.
- Other Duties as Assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
Ability to work in an outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
