Job Description :
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Under the direction of Sr. Director of Clinical Services, serves as a medical interpreter.
- Assists with interpreter services in order to meet hospital’s commitment to providing such services.
- Answers telephone in an accurately and timely manner that is consistent with customer service standards.
- Ensures organizational compliance with interpreter services requirements.
- Sign Language responsibilities based on experience; the interpreter facilitates communication through use of sign language.
Education / Experience Required :
- Proven ability to problem solve and organize information independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; must be comfortable and effective at coordinating communication with patients and families for whom English is not their primary language.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, data collection, health privacy regulations, etc.
- Ability to type at 40 WPM, demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- American Sign Language Interpreter experience preferred.
Registration / Certification :
Certification in medical translation / Certified Medical Translator
