The Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.

THE PERSON : As a Systems Design Engineer, you will drive scalable and automated solutions. In this high visibility position, your systems engineering expertise will be necessary to define products, develop solutions, assess root causes, and produce solution resolutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Design, develop, and debug Graphics BIOS firmware for graphics processors based on hardware specifications and requirements.

Help create internal tools to make development more efficient and improve quality. Drive technical innovation to enhance AMD's capabilities in product development and validation, including developing tools and scripts, improving methods, and supporting various initiatives.

Debug issues during the SOC (System on a Chip) program, bring-up, validation, and production phases. Work closely with technical support teams.

Engage in other software / hardware modeling frameworks. Lead collaborative efforts with multiple teams. Ensure work is delivered on time.

Work with management and off-site teams to co-develop the complete product solution. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE : Experience with firmware or system software development.

Strong understanding of graphics processor architecture. Hands-on knowledge of Assembly and standard C language. Experience with frame buffers.

Familiarity with the PCI Express bus protocol. Previous experience in firmware development environments. Knowledge of source code management tools like Perforce.

Solid understanding of PC architecture, including x86 processors, chipsets, DRAM architecture, PCI, PCI-X, PCI Express, ACPI, multiprocessor systems, power management, I2C, and system management.

Expertise in Assembly programming and debugging tools. Excellent programming skills in machine language, low-level code, C / C++, and Python.

Proficiency in debug techniques and methodologies. Experience with common lab equipment, such as protocol / logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.

Experience with board / platform-level debugging, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization. Knowledge of system architecture, technical debugging, and validation strategies.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS : Min 4+ years of experience with a Bachelor's or Masters's degree in electrical or computer engineering, or a related field #LI-LB1 At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.

Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
