The electrical engineering group works with internal and external architects and engineers to develop and design facilities for the Federal Government and related institutions.
The candidate will be expected to provide technical / analytical guidance and support to other engineering disciplines, support multiple clients and projects, and generate calculations, design analyses, construction drawings, and specifications to solve engineering problems and provide technical expertise to support operations.
The candidate will also prepare lighting, power, and communication construction documents.
Responsibilities
The Electrical Engineer will support the development of electrical power distribution systems up to 480V 3 phase. Typical tasks include :
- Reviewing and revising electrical drawings.
- Creating, editing, and modifying Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Drawing Change Notices (DCNs), Preventative Maintenance (PM) documents, and Modification Travelers.
- Planning and conducting work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Assisting in site / area visits / walkdowns and investigating engineering problems, proposing solutions and alternatives, and providing recommendations.
- Ensuring company principles are incorporated into the organization's activities and outputs.
Accountabilities include demonstrating problem-solving skills in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives and protecting the engineering reputation and legal standing of the corporation.
Qualifications
B.S. in Electrical Engineering
Experience & Requirements :
- Must be a US Citizen.
- 0-5 years’ experience designing building electrical systems / electrical power distribution systems and knowledge of required maintenance.
- Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
- Experience in the application of NFPA 70 and NEC.
- Exposure to Power Tools for Windows and other industry software.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills needed to communicate with personnel, management, and support organizations.
- Work experience in a nuclear or regulated environment is desirable; DOE or Hanford experience preferred.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent computer skills relevant to job applications.
- Ability to pass a background check.
