SUMMARY

This position is accountable for the expense accounting operations of the company. The expense lead will supervise, monitor and evaluate all day-to-day expense accounting activities in order to maximize cash flow while maintaining and improving internal and external customer relationships.

In conjunction with staff, the expenses lead will contribute to the day-to-day operations on all issues related to the expense function, provide analysis, create written processes, and train others in implementing a cross functional expense team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, directs and coordinates all revenue accounting operational functions; including the oversight of accounts payable, journal entries and general accounting
  • Establishes, monitors and enforces of accounting policies and procedures
  • Manages the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Assists with the month-end and year-end close process including preparing information for any financial audits.
  • Prepares financial reporting and analysis for the business including any information in regards to variances
  • Develops and monitors business performance metrics
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of accounting software and processes with a desire to continue to efficiently provide more timely and accurate information
  • Main point of contact for the business as it relates to expense reporting and processes.
  • Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical
  • Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training
  • Reports injuries and near misses promptly and in required detailed format; proposes corrective action
  • Other duties as may be assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Possess the ability to coach and mentor to optimize capabilities and ensure financial transactions are reported accurately and timely.

Reinforces a safety culture : leads by example, reminds employees to work safely, praises good behavior and safe practices, encourages suggestions, communicates consequences for unsafe acts, holds employees accountable, disciplines employees when warranted.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or finance or related field from four-year college or university;

and 3-4 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

LANGUAGE SKILLS :

Ability to read, analyze and interpret such items as general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or simple governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, or procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present financial information.

QUANTITATIVE SKILLS :

Must be able to calculate figures and amounts for all bookkeeping, payroll, and budgets. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

Ability to use a computer to create spreadsheets, charts and reports and analyze and apply information to make practical, day-to-day business decisions.
