Posting Summary The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical Nurse position is to, in accordance with professional nursing standards, skillfully administer total patient care based on the individualized needs of assigned patients and families.
Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides technical nursing care to assigned patients, performs treatments and procedures within established guidelines, and provides a safe and therapeutic environment.
Among the key duties of this position are the following :
- Initiates the admission process and assists with the identification of recurrent health problem, symptoms and behavioral changes of the resident.
- Collects pertinent data through observation, interview and other members of the health team and communicates changes in the resident condition to other resident care providers.
- Maintains clinical area in clean, neat, safe manner and participates in required counts and cleaning assignments.
- Adheres to institution and medical unit infection control policies.
- Maintains current professional skills and continues professional growth to enhance the practice of correctional nursing and the image of the organization.
