The Staff Accountant plays an important role in the contribution to the processing of High Alpha Innovation’s underlying accounting data.

In this role, you will learn best practices in accounting technology and processes as you take on increasing responsibility over time to analyze, track, and report on company financials in line with company objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to monthly close, the procure-to-pay cycle, the revenue cycle, expense management and financial reporting
  • Process payroll in collaboration with HR and Milestone to ensure that payments and deductions are correct
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations, resolve any reconciling items, and input into financial model
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the accounting, billing, revenue recognition and expense reimbursement software platforms;

ensure data quality is consistent and accurate throughout the platforms

  • Contribute to the ongoing regulatory and compliance needs of High Alpha Innovation including but not limited to; compliance with federal and state agencies, compliance Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and compliance with 401(k), HSA and other payroll related regulations
  • Create monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc reports for the executive team and board
  • Serve as the accounting team liaison to all employees to ensure expenses incurred by employees are accurately tracked and timely reported

Skills Needed

  • Bachelors of Science in Accounting with a minimum of one year of professional experience in an accounting role preferred
  • Advanced analytical skills and mindset
  • Demonstrate excellent quantitative skills with strong experience in Excel and familiarity with QuickBooks preferred
  • Strong problem solver able to embrace ambiguity, uncertainty, and changing business landscapes
  • Excellent relationship builder and communicator, polished executive presence, and ability to instill confidence in their work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, ability to be assertive in situations with unresolved issues such as an unpaid invoice or a delay on a expense report
  • Ability to adapt & excel autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail & accuracy, high sense of urgency, excellence is the minimum requirement
