About the Role

As a senior engineer on Charlie Health's platform team, you will develop the core services that power Charlie Health. You and your team will develop services and shared libraries that systematically improve Charlie Health's ability to deliver high-quality care.

Specifically, you will work on problems such as :

  • Enabling our system to support new care programs and treatment offerings
  • Improving the ways we communicate with our clients and their guardians
  • Optimizing business processes through event driven architecture and workflow orchestration
  • Personalizing the client experience by developing shared identity context

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain our shared services and libraries
  • Monitor, tune, and improve application performance
  • Define and evangelize our target architecture
  • Rollout improvements to existing services owned by other teams
  • Define and promote best practices across the engineering organization
  • Accelerate developer velocity by identifying and abstracting common functionality

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as a software engineer working on distributed systems
  • Expert knowledge developing scalable services in Python
  • Expertise developing event-driven architecture
  • Proficiency in LLMs, Neural Networks, and Graph Databases. Skilled in applying large language models and neural networks for improved efficiency and decision-making, along with utilizing graph databases for in-depth data relationship analysis to drive optimized outcomes
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs
  • Outstanding debugging, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience writing effective unit and integration tests
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Familiarity with a cloud ecosystem such as AWS, GCP, or Azure (AWS preferred)
  • Ability to make important technical tradeoff decisions with cross team implications
  • Please note : candidates located within 75 minutes' commuting distance of our NYC office are expected to come to office 4 days / week

In your first 90 days at Charlie Health, we anticipate you might :

  • Create new services and modify our existing system to support new clinical products
  • Identify and fix bottlenecks our systems will experience at 2-10x current scale
  • Develop libraries to handle cross-cutting concerns such as audit logging, access control, and asynchronous communication
