Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a travel nurse RN Psychiatric for a travel nursing job in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Location : CommonSpirit Health (CHI / Dignity affiliated facility)

Shift : 12-Hour Days | Every Other Weekend | First to Float

Guaranteed Hours : 36 per week

Contract Length : 13 Weeks

Charting System : EPIC

Trauma Level : II

Care Setting : Acute Inpatient Psychiatry

Unit Details

  • Department : Psychiatric Unit
  • Beds : 25 licensed (currently 3 Adult & 6 Adolescent in use)
  • Patient Population :

    • Adolescents and Adults (travelers may work both populations)

  • Common diagnoses : depression, anxiety, substance abuse (ETOH & other), psychosis, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, behavioral / personality disorders
  • Rare opioid withdrawal; patients are medically cleared
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratios :

    • Adults : 3 : 1 (may increase to 7 : 1)

  • Adolescents : 6 : 1
  • Support Staff :

    • Mental Health Techs / Aides (2 when full census)

  • OT, OTA, and Social Work available M–F
  • RT available for oxygen support, CPAP / BiPAP at night

    • Required Certifications

  • BLS (Required)

    • Experience Requirements

  • Acute or inpatient psychiatric experience required
  • Strong de-escalation and communication skills
  • Adolescent experience preferred
  • Open to first-time travelers

    • Additional Details

  • Restraints : Mechanical restraints and seclusion used rarely
  • Orientation : 2 shifts (12 hours each)
  • Dress Code : Any color scrubs except maroon; business casual acceptable
  • Floating : To other hospital units as helping hands or 1 : 1 sitter
  • Scheduling :

    • 7a–7p primary

  • Self-scheduling with management balance (union hospital)
  • Every other weekend & holiday required
  • Call : None
