The Department of Pediatric Radiology provides a full range of imaging services for newborns, infants, children, teenagers, young adults, and pregnant women at Boston Children's Hospital and our satellite clinics in Lexington, North Dartmouth, Peabody, Waltham, and Weymouth.
We provide individualized care for each patient to obtain the highest quality images and ensure the most accurate diagnoses using the most sophisticated imaging equipment available.
The Image Service Representative will :
Receive, prioritize, and respond to requests for patient film / digital image records in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Access hospital and departmental information systems to track and locate film / digital image files and create logs and codes files as needed.
Retrieve and deliver films / digital images to designated locations within the department and throughout the Hospital.
Prepare and digitally convert images for viewing by radiologists or customers. Retrieve requested patient files, complete required logs and records, and digitally convert when necessary.
Train others on the use of digitizer and PACS cube functionality.
Receive and respond to routine and urgent inquiries regarding the status and location of missing files and digital images.
Research manual and computer records to locate and retrieve requested files and digital images for physicians, parents / patients, and other hospital and departmental staff.
Investigate and resolve image tracking and location issues and problems, recommending possible solutions and referring unusual or sensitive matters to the supervisor.
Answer, screen, and route telephone calls and greet and direct patients / parents, physicians, and other hospital staff.
Respond to requests for routine information and assistance, referring callers to appropriate personnel or location as needed.
Receive and record digital image requests, provide basic information on radiologic procedures, and read radiology report results to callers as appropriate.
- Adhere to government rules on the release of medical information. Follow JCAHO, HIPAA, and legal policies on the release of information.
- This is a temporary position working Monday through Friday 8 : 30am to 5pm until January*
To qualify you must have :
- High School diploma / GED
- 1 year of related experience
- Analytical skills and judgment to interpret data and take appropriate action in relatively routine circumstances or situations.
- Ability to understand and respond to written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions, or requests for information.
Contact with patients and / or visitors involves courtesy.
Ability to understand basic human anatomy.
