Summary : The Underwriter is responsible for providing efficient, timely, consistent, accurate quality loan decisions on a daily basis and underwrite loans that adhere to APM Underwriting Policy and Procedures as well as adhere to the investor guidelines, policies and procedures.

Additionally, they are responsible for answering questions and assisting with problem solving with other underwriting staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Respond to both internal and external QC audit findings in a timely and proficient manner.
  • Underwrite a minimum of 2 loans per day and complete outstanding conditions in a timely manner.
  • Review files for accuracy and completeness according to the Underwriter Checklist, APMC guidelines and investor / agency guidelines.
  • Run files through Quality Control tools.
  • Communicate effectively with processors and loan officers on status of loan files and conditions.
  • All other related duties assigned

Education & Experience :

  • Proven Experience with Encompass Required
  • At least three (3) years underwriting experience.
  • Authority to underwrite CONV and when designated authority is authorized, USDA and / or Jumbo products to APMC or investor guidelines
  • General experience and understanding of the following products :
  • Mortgage Builder
  • Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Outlook
  • Internet navigation

Skills :

Language Skills : Ability to read and interpret documents and writes routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers / vendors or other employees.

Mathematical Skills : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.

Computer Skills : Sound working knowledge of computer and office software operations and systems. Encompass required.
