Utah Hockey Club is looking for an experienced Director of Content to oversee digital content strategy, planning, development, production, and distribution of multi-format content across all of their digital platforms during an exciting inaugural season and beyond.
They will collaborate across departments and be instrumental in strategizing, creating, and executing the team's content in an effort to establish the brand, identity, and voice of Utah Hockey Club as well as drive audience engagement and commercial value.
They will be responsible for managing the creation of written, video, photo, and audio content that will be distributed primarily on social / digital platforms.
Success in this role will be determined by the ability to drive the organization's content strategies to achieve the cultivation of content that engages a new, passionate fan base across key engagement platforms.
The ideal candidate has experience influencing cross-functional leaders through the use of creative, media, and content best practices and has a depth of experience in social media platform activation.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of social platforms, has a track record of creating strategies that maximize each channel's full potential, and has created sponsored content roadmaps for each platform.
This creative thinker is also data-driven and stays current with industry trends, introducing innovation and best practices to their department and organization.
They will be a team player and a culture champion who will effectively lead and manage a forward-thinking and progressive content team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- With the VP of Marketing sets strategy, establishes performance goals, and takes an insight-based approach to content strategy and optimization
- Leads content planning and development of content calendars, and content briefs to ensure plans are distributed across the organization in advance to key stakeholders like broadcast, corporate communications, public relations, hockey operations, and corporate partnerships.
- Leads and manages the content team with an eye toward collaboration, excellence, and support
- Oversees and supports game night content across relevant social and digital platforms for all home and away games
- Ensures all content is properly executed and distributed across the proper channels and within the brand standards of the business.
- Develops relationships with the league, teams, and creators in the NHL and adhere to brand and league rules and standards
- Understands and is comfortable in a work environment with very quick turnarounds. Can effectively push out dozens of content pieces with a very short turnaround time
- Has a deep knowledge of the NHL and current talent (players, coaches, etc.)
- Determines website content and distribution strategy
- Works closely with the corporate partnerships team and other internal commercial stakeholders on the monetization of existing content and explores new opportunities where applicable.
- Develops relationships with distribution partners and platforms, stays up-to-date and informed on industry best practices and trends, and lead continual development of new, innovative ideas to establish the connection with the Utah Hockey Club fanbase and drive brand value.
- Stewards high-quality output and team performance through teaching, guiding, and supporting your staff to ensure consistency and quality, efficiency, and consistency
- Forecasts and manages department expense budget, allocate budgets and resources for content team initiatives
- Tracks and reports content performance and engagement and use that information to inform content creation
- Analyze the competitive landscape to identify industry trends, strengths, and weaknesses to assess the impact of programming and opportunities for expansion.
- Builds reach and scale with new audiences, while creating seamless pathways toward acquisition.

QUALIFICATIONS :
- 5+ years of experience with digital content strategy and creation and a proven ability to use content to further brand and business objectives.
- 3+ years of managing progressive and high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of how audience drivers and marketing channels work hand-in-hand with content.
- Strong understanding of social tools and related software (i.e. Asana, StatsPerform, WSC, Greenfly, etc.).
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, prioritize and resolve complex problems, and escalate as necessary in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Proficient presentation writer, designer, and editor who can seamlessly apply style and structure, absorb complex ideas, and reframe for an engaged and motivated audience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal collaboration and organizational skills.
- An editorial eye for content quality across copy and visuals.
- Consistent track record in leading and running innovative and effective content marketing programs that generate results.
