Sensory Manager - Preston, WA

Job Summary

Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of a Sensory Program to support product development, innovation, and brand maintenance across various business categories.

This role involves managing sensory testing, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving strategic initiatives to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.

Details :

Pay : $104,000 - $132,000 with additional 10% yearly bonus based on company performance

Shift : Mon - Fri 8am - 4 : 30pm

Duration : Direct-hire (permanent position)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage sensory testing programs to support product and business development.
  • Develop and implement procedures for sensory research in collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Oversee test execution, including research design, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Manage and calibrate internal sensory panels and optimize Sensory Lab space.
  • Drive new sensory capabilities through research and implementation of evaluation methods.
  • Manage project pipelines, ensuring timely completion in a dynamic environment.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and research partners.
  • Collaborate with internal and external departments to influence business decisions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the sensory team.
  • Ensure adherence to testing protocols for maintaining product quality standards.

Qualifications

  • BS or graduate degree in Sensory / Behavioral / Biological Sciences or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in food or beverage industries
  • 1-2 years in sensory product research, consumer insights, or related fields.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence decisions using data and insights.
  • Advanced critical thinking, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven experience in leading and developing teams.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate and lead cross-functional teams and manage vendor relationships.
  • Adaptability to the changing needs of a growth-oriented business.
