In order to continually provide our members with the highest level of service, Affinity is seeking an experienced, results-oriented and service-focused individual to join our Commercial Lending team as a Senior Commercial Credit Analyst.

The Senior Commercial Credit Analyst provides an independent standardized evaluation of credit risk for prospective and existing commercial loan and commercial real estate borrowers through the spreading and analysis of financial statements, tax returns or other information to facilitate sound credit decisions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exercise prudent lending judgment to approve or decline loan transactions within prescribed credit authority
  • Assist Credit Analyst Team Leader with coaching credit analysts and management of department.
  • Ensure that all available and necessary financial data for preparation of loan presentations is obtained.
  • Spread financial statements for new borrowers and / or existing borrowers in a standardized format utilizing department software.
  • Provide a detailed financial / credit analysis by evaluating a business' financial performance through trend analysis, industry comparison and projections to identify risks the credit union may be exposed to and to analyze the ability of the borrower to repay the proposed extension of credit.
  • Communicate with business members in reference to questions or concerns while evaluating the credit
  • Research, assemble and maintain national, regional and industry specific economic information research and data.
  • Review property appraisals and documentation.
  • Monitor commercial loan files to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Go on calls with Portfolio Officers to perform due diligence on prospective clients in order to obtain information used in the preparation of analyses
  • Perform credit inquiries and mutual revisions of credit information related to commercial borrowers.
  • Maintain Business Lending Credit files and keep files organized and accessible.
  • Provide member service support for the Portfolio Officers as needed
  • Make recommendations to Manager about possible methods to improve the efficiency and productivity of the department.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

3+ years of related experience required or 2+ years of additional related work experience in place of a Bachelor's degree.

Bachelor's degree, preferred but not required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior Business Lending experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Technically proficient
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Responsive to pressure and change
  • Accounting - basic to intermediate level knowledge
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and prepare projections
