Job Description

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the repair of heavy construction equipment, component assemblies, and parts, on construction job sites.

This includes diagnosing, troubleshooting, parts ordering, maintenance & repair of company assets, and proper communication with others and ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and / or replacement in a time-efficient and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company / OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Performs proficient inspection, diagnosis, and moderately complex repair of heavy equipment.
  • Identifies mechanical problems visually and / or with computer diagnostic equipment
  • Records and reports all diagnostic & repairs performed on equipment in work orders.
  • Orders and installs replacement parts for heavy mobile equipment.
  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
  • Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains Mechanic truck, parts, tools, and supplies..
  • Other related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education : High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience : Four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license and must have a clean driving record.
  • Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance
  • The ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, and ladders, and lift weights up to 60 pounds.
  • The ability to work in a varied outdoor environment (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy)
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of heavy equipment and repair.
  • Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals.
  • Ability to read work orders.
  • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
