Job Summary
The certified lifeguard is primarily responsible for the safety of the swimmers / patrons using the pool and facilities. The lifeguard arrives 15 minutes prior to lap swim / class and remains 15 minutes after for set up and clean-up of pool equipment.
This includes moving ladders, lane line and pool tarps. The lifeguard is expected to be friendly and attentive to enforcing pool safety rules.
Essential Functions
- Maintain continuous surveillance of people in the swimming pool 50%
- Enforce the safety protocols 10%
- Ensure appropriate headcount of people in swimming pool 5%
- Ensure pool ladder is in place for participants to safely enter and exit the pool 5%
- Spot hazards or potential hazards and take measures to prevent accidents 5%
- Perform rescues in the event of drowning or swimming accidents 5%
- Perform first aid and CPR according to the demands of adverse situations 5%
- Communicate with GCC College Police regarding any incidents that may occur 5%
- Check safety of rescue tubes and buoys and request needed maintenance 5%
- Ensure that all pool equipment is stored safely and that any lost items are kept in a safe place 5 %

18 years or older
