Rocket Travel by Agoda is looking for a Senior Data Engineer with experience in Python / SQL to join our growing Data Engineering Team.

The Data Engineering Team is part of the data function at Rocket Travel, which oversees building internal-facing data pipelines that feed finance and business teams and promotes data-driven decision-making in our growing business.

• Total Compensation is based on experience - Salary : The starting base for this role is $120,000 Bonus : up to 19%

As a Senior Data Engineer at Rocket Travel, you will :

• Iterate and improve our data pipelines running in production, making them more testable, resilient and automated.
• Build Python and SQL data pipelines to address different business needs, which includes : building data pipelines for financial needs, reporting for business partners, and more.
• Own projects end-to-end, which includes determining the best tools and architecture to create data pipelines and setting up the proper data schema and naming conventions for the data.
• Continuously improve your skill set by learning new technologies, and eventually grow to researching, piloting, and pitching new tools for the team to adopt.
• Improve and expand our set of data quality tests for more resilient pipelines.
• Work closely with a variety of stakeholders across the company including data science, bizops, partnerships, engineering, and finance.
• Maintain a sense of empathy for our customers and move quickly where users are most acutely affected.

About You

• You have a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science or related field.
• You have worked with Python / SQL for at least 3 years in a professional setting.
• You have experience with containerization technologies (Kubernetes, ECS, Docker).
• You are intellectually curious and a self-directed problem solver, keen to work on a variety of data projects and independently search for answers.
• You have worked with Python common data-related libraries (Pandas, NumPy).
• You have worked with MPP databases (e.g. Redshift, Vertica, Hadoop).
• You have experience working with DevOps tools like GitLab and Jenkins.
• You have hands-on experience with SQL and can write complex queries with ease.
• You have familiarity with AWS data-related tools (DMS, Glue, Redshift).
• You care deeply about the quality of your code, but are also aware of timelines and don’t spend countless hours trying to bring things to perfection.
• You communicate clearly and effectively.
