Job Description :

ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team for the 2024 / 2025 fiscal year.

As a Special Education Teacher, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs.

This role requires expertise in developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and working collaboratively with students, families, and educational staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in various settings, including inclusive classrooms, resource rooms, and self-contained classrooms.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Assess students' abilities and progress through formal and informal assessments.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum to accommodate the unique learning styles and needs of students.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, IEP goals, and services provided.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school-based meetings.
  • Provide behavior management support and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as needed.
  • Stay current with best practices and legal requirements in special education through ongoing professional development.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • State certification or licensure as a Special Education Teacher in Virginia.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with students with special needs.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and team members.
  • Proficiency in creating and implementing IEPs and BIPs.
  • Ability to adapt and differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Commitment to maintaining professional development and staying current with industry trends.
