Position : Supv-RN MedSurg / Tele / SD - OLGMC 6C Med Tele - Full Time (Nights - 7P)\n\nSupv-RN Med Surg / Tele / SD - OLGMC 6C Med Tele - Full Time (Nights - 7P) at Ochsner Health System summary : \n\nThis position supervises and provides nursing care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients during night shifts. The role involves coordinating, delegating, and overseeing the healthcare team, evaluating staff performance, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and quality standards. Come make a difference at Ochsner Health and discover your future today!\nThis job acts as a supervisor and provider of care at the point of care to individuals and cohorts of patients within a unit. Evaluates nursing interventions by coordinating, delegating and supervising care provided by the healthcare team of licensed nurses, registered nurses, and patient care technicians.\n\nServes as a resource to staff for patient care assessment, planning, and evaluation of nursing interventions and facilitates problem resolution through collaboration with unit leadership and other supervisory staff. In collaboration with the immediate leader and other supervisory staff, identifies staff strengths and weaknesses and evaluating staff performance for team members within their span of control.\n\nEducation\n\nRequired – Registered nurse diploma.\nPreferred – Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing.\n\nExperience\n\nRequired – 1 year of relevant experience as a registered nurse\n\nOR\n\n2 years of experience as an LPN in an acute care setting.\n\nPreferred – 2 years of relevant experience as a registered nurse.\n\nCertifications\n\nRequired – Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.\n\nBasic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.\n\nKnowledge\n\nSkills and Abilities\n\n(KSAs)\n

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.\n
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to routinely manage priorities and projects involving multiple constituencies.\n
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.\n
  • Ability to work in stressful situations and always remain objective and professional.\n\nJob Duties\n
  • Administers medications, starts IVs, and discharges patients with their healthcare team.\n
  • Organizes, plans, supervises, and provides coordinated patient care within the unit.\n
  • Supervises, develops, and evaluates assigned departmental staff nurses and technicians.\n
  • Promotes the adoption of nursing protocols and clinical practice guidelines to support evidence-based practice.\n
  • Manages conflict on assigned shifts and collaborates with other supervisors and unit leadership if further action is needed.\n
  • Collaborates with patient quality, safety, and experience leadership and promotes patient quality, safety, and experience processes.\n
  • Supports daily clinical operations on the unit by ensuring effective scheduling, staffing, and appropriate clinical supplies and resources are available for patient care.\n
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.\n
