The Clinical Nurseassesses, coordinates, plans, directs, implements and manages theneeds of assigned patients throughout the episode of care with afocus on progress toward discharge, including during transitionswithin the acute care stay.
The Clinical Nurse is responsible forthe delivery and coordination of patient care provided by thecaregiving team. S / he assures that competent, compassionate patientcare is uniformly provided to customers including referringfacilities, hospital staff and patients in the inpatient,ambulatory, and community settings.
The MedicalCardiology unit is a 29-bed unit consisting of 1 private room, 13semi-private rooms and one 4 bedroom. Patients are received fromthe Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, CCU, MICU,physician offices, and other facilities when inpatient admission isnecessary.
The patient population served includes maleand female, acute and chronically ill patients with a variety ofcardiac and medical diagnoses.
Most patients admitted to the unitrequire telemetry monitoring after receiving minimally-invasive andinvasive cardiac procedures.
The age range is from young adult (18years) to geriatric (100+) years.
Hourly Range : $36.73 - $60.93
Essential Duties &Responsibilities include but not limited to :
Implements physician orders, administersmedications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures andspecial tests, and document treatment as required by company policyand local / state / federal rules and regulations.
Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify andassess patients' conditions.
Assesses andevaluates patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.
Applies sound nursing judgment in patient caremanagement decisions.
Provides primary andemergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries andillnesses.
Administers over-the-counter andprescription medications as ordered.
Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for allpatients.
Directs and guides ancillarypersonnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.
MinimumQualifications :
Graduate of aprofessional academic nursing program in which a Diploma, AssociateDegree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred.
Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license.
Obtains and maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) andAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Previousexperience as a PCA or other nursing assistance preferred.
Ability to improve job performance throughcontinuing education.
Possesses knowledge ofquality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools andtechniques and demonstrates ability to apply in support ofdepartmental and patient care quality improvement.
