Director Moundville Archaeological Park, The University of Alabama Museums, Tuscaloosa, AL
The Director, Moundville Archaeological Park is responsible for the planning and oversight of the park and its museum to include staffing, financial management, facility and grounds operations, exhibit planning and development, event planning, educational programming and public relations.
A unit of The University of Alabama Museums, Moundville Archaeological Park (www.moundville.ua.edu) is a 326 acre National Historic Landmark site that, at its peak in the 13th century, was America’s largest city north of Mexico.
The park includes 28 large earthen mounds, a museum with large museum store, conference center, visitor orientation center, nature trails, and RV campground.
The park hosts a variety of educational programs each year, the largest of which, the Moundville Native American Festival, is attended by nearly 10,000 people.
The Director reports to the Executive Director of The University of Alabama Museums.

Required Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, anthropology, natural science, education or other relevant field and at least five years of experience working in a museum or similar educational setting or other relevant experience;
or Master’s degree or higher in museum studies, anthropology, natural science, education or other relevant field and three years experience working in a museum or similar educational setting or other relevant experience.
Experience may include marketing, public relations, public speaking, collection policies and practices, educational programs, exhibit design and fundraising.
Supervisory experience is required. Experience building relationships with Indigenous communities is preferred.
