Assistant Director for Career Development, Business, Consulting & Finance

Description

Job SummaryProvides career counseling and advising to students and young alumni via individual advising, workshops, and programming.

Provides leadership for student programming and outreach for students interested in the Business, Consulting, and Finance fields.

Coordinates career counseling programs and initiatives for all class years with a focus on student engagement and manages other project work assigned.

Major Areas of ResponsibilityCareer Counseling and Advising :

  • Provide individual, comprehensive career counseling to students of all class years and young alumni, including Strong Interest Inventory interpretations.
  • Assist students and young alumni identify and integrate abilities, interests, experience, and values with career choice;

explore career options using online and print resources; make decisions regarding career choice.

  • Connect students with career exploration opportunities including job shadowing, informational interviewing, career panels and presentations, community-based learning, workshops, deep-dives, pre-professional advising, etc.
  • Teach internship / job search skills such as resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, networking, researching employers, and use of online tools in individual and group settings.
  • Develop and present career workshops and prepare related materials.
  • Critique resumes and cover letters.
  • Conduct interview strategy meetings and mock interviews.

Serve as the Industry Advisor for students interested in select industries :

Accounting, consulting, finance, insurance, and real estate fields.

Lead the Business, Consulting and Finance (BCF) career community

  • Plan and coordinate events and programs for target populations, industries, and career community including, but not limited to, alumni panels, employer site visits, coffee chats, recruiter in residence, and industry nights.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with alumni in career community industries to facilitate connections with students.
  • Curate industry-specific information for monthly career community newsletters
  • Collaborate and build relationships with appropriate departments, offices, faculty and student groups.
  • Plan staff development trainings around industry information dissemination.
  • Coordinate industry / networking nights.
  • Collaborate with Employer Engagement team about job / internship opportunities and employer trends.
  • Assist in the creation of asynchronous and virtual content to support career community and CCD goals and initiatives.

Student Programming and Outreach

  • Serve as liaison to academic departments as assigned.
  • Build and maintain connection with career connected student groups to facilitate / build job and internship pipelines and host / offer events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in counseling, college student personnel or related field required.
  • 1-3 years of related experience.
  • The position requires an understanding of the career development of liberal arts students, especially with respect to the role of experiential education and a Jesuit environment.
  • Basic experience or knowledge of Handshake or career services management platforms
  • Strong Interest Inventory Certified or proficient experience administering the Strong Interest Inventory, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Gallup Strengths, etc.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION : This is a full time, exempt level position with a salary range of $56,000-$60,000. The College is committed to providing competitive market pay for its employees.
