Job Summary
The Kinesiology and Public Health Department in the Bailey College of Science and Mathematics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking to fill one full-time, academic year, tenure track position in environmental health with a record of training or experience in Latinx / e studies, with appointment beginning September 11, 2025.
Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is anticipated; higher ranks will be considered. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
If appointed at the Assistant Professor rank, the anticipated hiring range is $97,788 - $107,628.
If appointed at the Associate Professor rank, the anticipated hiring range is $112,500 - $118,524.

Once hired, candidates will collaborate with their dean and others to develop a plan for utilizing these funds for supplemental compensation, assigned time, or professional development activities.
Individuals with training, experience, and demonstrated skills in inclusive and equitable teaching and / or scholarship linking Latinx / e studies to one or more of the following areas of Environmental Health are encouraged to apply :
Environmental justice and health equity
Climate change impacts on population health
Environmental exposure measurement, environmental health assessment, or program evaluation, especially in historically underserved or marginalized communities
Occupational health and health disparities
Environmental health policy and regulation, and their impacts on underserved communities or on health equity
Community-based participatory research in environmental health
Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Public Health or closely related field.
Record of training or experience in the field of Environmental Health.
Record of training or experience in Latinx / e studies.
Experience working with Latinx / e populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
Demonstrated evidence of (or potential for) promoting DEI in teaching, scholarship, and / or service as well as a dedication to the well-being and advancement of students, colleagues, and the department.
Demonstrated experience and commitment to equitable student-centered learning and teaching.
Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.
Must provide evidence of (or potential for) high quality teaching and research with students.
Must provide evidence of (or potential for) scholarly productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and commitment to excellence in teaching public health or environmental health at the university level.
University teaching experience using face to face, hybrid and online delivery and demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching.
Experience and commitment to becoming a Hispanic Serving Institution.
Experience supervising undergraduate student research.
