Overview

TRC Advanced Energy (TRC) is a nationally known energy efficiency consultancy. TRC collaborates with clients to develop and implement market transforming programs and initiatives that promote energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green building in multiple market sectors across the US and around the world.

These initiatives reduce energy costs, improve the health and safety conditions of buildings, while also helping the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

TRC is looking for an experienced Associate Director to manage a portfolio of Demand Response (DR) programs in the Central US .

This role will have ultimate responsibility for the continuous care and satisfaction of multiple utility clients throughout the center of the country.

TRC currently serves as the implementer across several DR programs for both residential and non-residential customers. The ideal candidate will have experience with design, implementing, and managing residential and non-residential DR programs.

This will include program, process, client and employee management.

There is a preference for a candidate being located in the Central or Eastern Time Zone. This role will be expected to travel to Kansas City, MO up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

The Associate Director - Demand Response Program will have direct responsibility for all aspects of delivery across the portfolio.

The program staff consists of marketing staff for increased program awareness, outreach staff utilized to create direct program relationships in the field and operational staff who manages program from enrollment through settlement and reporting.

The program manager will also interface with corporate functional support groups including finance, HR, IT and program design support.

The program manager is responsible for the achievement of all client goals and strict budget adherence in an effort to satisfy all internal revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction metrics.

Directs the work of all staff assigned to the programs and mentors / motivates staff to excel and develop to their full potential.

Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection, training and development, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition / disciplinary actions.

Responsible for cost, schedule and technical performance of programs. Participates in the negotiation of contracts and contract changes.

Acts as primary point of customer contact for program activities, leads program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.

Develops new business or expands current offering with existing customers.

Activities and skills to support program objectives :

  • Demand Response program design
  • Understanding of the ISO / RTO market, such as capacity, bidding / pricing process, and collaboration of internal discussions
  • Supporting IT infrastructure
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Alignment from customer through program governance
  • Documentation management
  • Visual management to program performance
  • Process creation and continuous improvement
  • Alignment with marketing to support participation and program attribution
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Operational Technology (OT) system knowledge

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience leading teams across multiple functional groups to achieve common objectives
  • Experience in client relationship management
  • Affinity for data and the ability to combine data and business intelligence to drive effective decisions
  • Ability to train, develop, and engage team members
  • Ability to establish and manage program metrics that align with client earning opportunity
  • Experience and aptitude for supporting the creation and adherence to detailed contracting and / or program documentation
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Experience presenting to clients and larger audiences

Desired Skills and Qualifications :

  • 2 or more years of experience working on demand response or utility load management programs
  • Demand response program implementation experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP / CAPM) experience or certification
  • Environmental or energy background certifications such as Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM)

Compensation : In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition.

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation : Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
