Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary :

The activity / recreational therapist position reports directly to the Clinical Director and is responsible for the planning, organization and conducting of recreational activities and groups for patients admitted to Southern Hills Hospital.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES :

• Ability to organize, coordinate and evaluate activity programming for patient population.
• Have a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic activities for admitted patients in a psychiatric setting.
• Be able to handle multiple tasks pertaining to patient issues.
• Be able to work in a team environment.

EDUCATION :

Bachelor's degree?in recreation therapy or in one of the recognized related activity therapy fields such as music, art, or dance as outlined in CMS standards for inpatient psychiatric care.

EXPERIENCE :

Minimum one (1) year experience working in therapeutic recreational programs preferred

CERTIFICATE / LICENSE :

• Hold and maintain current licensure in recreation therapy of recognized related fields such as music, art, or dance
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification?within 30 days of hire
