JOB DESCRIPTION :

Reporting to the SOM leadership, provides school and department level bridge between Office of Clinical Research (OCR) and School of Medicine (SOM) Sponsored Research Management Services (SRMS) Units : SOM ABOSS (Anesthesiology, Brain Health, Orthopedics, Surgical Services);

SOM Basic Sciences; SOM Cancer and Imaging; SOM Hospital and Specialty Services; SOM Medicine; and SOM Pediatrics.

  • Based in the School of Medicine, deploys to SOM SRMS units to work actively with study teams / PIs on troubleshooting, analysis and corrections as needed to support post-award of current clinical trials.
  • Assists the SRMS unit Directors and SOM leadership in the day-to-day operations and administrative management of SRMS as it relates specifically to clinical trials, industry sponsored and federal.
  • Assesses current processes and develops new ones when needed to optimize efficiency.
  • Develops and implements strategies for business development.
  • Collaborates with leadership of the School of Medicine and SOM SRMS Directors to develop and implement strategic plans for clinical trials management at the school and department level.
  • Works with the SOM SRMS Training Manager to implement Standard Operating Procedures for clinical research / trials.
  • Understands current research compliance guidelines and collaborates with SOM leadership and SOM SRMS Directors to ensure current practices align with these standards, particularly concerning study team staff effort.
  • Works with OCR to create portfolio data reports of SOM clinical research from OnCore on a cadence.
  • Interfaces with OCR leadership at a cadence to align SOM / OCR goals and identify potential issues.
  • Coordinates ad hoc meetings with stakeholders, as needed, to mitigate issues.
  • Updates SOM leadership regarding potential issues / areas of improvement.
  • Serves as the central resource for OCR regarding SOM and SRMS policies / processes.
  • Ensure optimization of budgeting for clinical trials / research in partnership with OCR, faculty and dept / unit.
  • Troubleshoot barriers and challenges for OCR and SRMS / SOM.
  • Communicates regularly with SOM Office of Research Administration.
  • Serves as a stakeholder on institutional level business process improvement initiatives as it relates to the day-to-day tasks performed by SRMS teams.
  • May serve on university working groups related to the implementation and / or improvement of clinical trial management systems.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of work-related grants, contracts, and clinical trials experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Knowledge of federal rules and regulations and sponsor requirements related to research administration of grants and contracts, specifically clinical trials, required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and PeopleSoft Financials or related system.
  • Proficiency with OnCore and EPIC and work in a clinical research setting implementing clinical studies a plus.

NOTE : This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.

Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
