Position Overview :
The Assistant Director of Nursing / Registered Nurse (RN) Staff Educator will manage administrative and functional areas or programs within the Nursing Department.
The ADON supports the overall operation of the facility, assuring adherence to company policies, standards of nursing practices, and government regulations, in order to promote the highest quality care for our residents and patients.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / Registered Nurse (RN) Staff Educator :
- Assist the DON to plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the nursing care facilities.
- Assume the authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the in-service educational programs.
- Plan, develop, direct, evaluate, and coordinate educational and on-the-job training programs.
- Incorporate instruction material and training aids into existing in-service programs as deemed necessary.
- Provide leadership in formulating the goals and objectives of the in-service educational programs of the Facility.
- Develop, evaluate, and control the quality of in-service educational programs in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Develop methods for coordination of nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the residents’ total regimen of care.
- Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program for the nursing service department.
- Participate in Facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies, as necessary or as may be directed.
- Assist the Quality Assessment & Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.
Requirements of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / Registered Nurse (RN) Staff Educator :
- Registered Nurse with current NY license.
- 3 years of supervisory experience in a long-term care setting.
- Must have a current / active CPR certification.
- Excellent technical, assessment and documentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift fifty (50) or more pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
- Able to stand and / or walk for more than four (4) hours per day.
- Able to bend and / or stoop for more than one (1) hour at a time.
