Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) for the Department of

College of Health and Human Services

Position Overview :

The Department of Kinesiology is seeking Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) applicants.

The department reserves the right to choose the most qualified candidate for each position and to assign Instructional Student Assistant to the courses that are appropriate for the department program and curriculum in any given semester.

Due to staff and curriculum changes, courses offered may vary, and no guarantee of employment from semester to semester can be made.

Anticipated Appointment Dates : This position is opened until filled. If you have applied and no other positions are available, you will be notified.

Fall 2024 : August 19, 2024 - December 23, 2024

Spring 2025 : January 15, 2025 - May 23, 2025

Hours : 0-20 hours per week.

Job Duties may include the following, but will be dependent upon the specific course or assignment to which the instructional student assistant will be assigned, as well as upon the specific needs of the faculty member in charge of the course / assignment :

  • Read and evaluate student papers.
  • Evaluate student assignments.
  • Maintain / Submit students records (., grades).
  • Proctor examinations.
  • Assist in the scheduling of the use of the Human Performance Lab.
  • All scheduling and use of the laboratory equipment must be coordinated through the graduate laboratory assistant
  • Schedule and conduct non-instructional related body composition assessments and various exercise tests
  • Conduct Human Performance Lab tours
  • Perform daily maintenance and upkeep of lab equipment and facilities
  • Maintain and update an inventory of all equipment and supplies
  • Maintain and update the Materials Safety Data Sheet
  • Assist in the marketing of lab services
  • Assist in other duties as assigned by the Director of the Human Performance Lab
  • Manage Canvas.
  • Assist Graduate Program Coordinator with outreach, communications, etc. related to student recruitment and acceptance.

Qualifications :

  • Graduate standing in Kinesiology
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Must have completed course in which opening exists
  • Communication skills appropriate to the instructional setting
  • Ability and willingness to work with computers including common word-processing software, and computer and Internet-based language teaching technology.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic background.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience in a closely-related discipline

  • Salary : Each department has different salary scales. Please check with your department for your Base Salary. The Salary range for Instructional Student Assistants starts at $17.01 per an hour.
  • Assignments : Assignments are made by Department Chair or Program Coordinator after consultation with the candidate.
  • Duties Form : Per the , a Duties Form (see Appendix E of the CBA) will be completed between the Department and Academic Student Employee.

  • Instructional Student Assistant positions are for matriculated students at Fresno State.
  • Students are limited to 20-hours of part-time work on campus.
