Position will assist with surgeries.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education : High school diploma or GED.
- Experience : Two (2) years of clinical experience in a designated specialty area; will substitute years of experience if graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant or EMT (Intermediate Level) or Paramedic program with at least 160 hours of extern clinical experience in a designated specialty area.
- Licenses / Certifications : BLS Certification; and (one or more of the following)Certified as a Nursing Assistant by the Texas Department of Health;
- orNursing Student with two (2) years of clinical studies or graduate of an accredited foreign nursing program with nursing credentials / licensure in the home country;
ora Medical Assistant; orEmergency Medical Technician (EMT) from an accredited program; orLicensed Paramedic
Ability to understand written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations; demonstrates skills for assigned specialty area / function or assigned procedures;
including a working knowledge of basic medical terminology and computer software skills.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform Phlebotomy skills, 12 lead EKG, provide quarterly in-services for PCA, attend clinical coach class, function as observer, active member of UPC and attend non license leadership academy (if offered at facility).
- Performs advanced direct and indirect patient care, under the direction of an licensed clinician, as specified in the skills inventory, in a competent manner, according to the needs / age of the patient / population served;
assists in planning and implementing direct patient care; documents care provided in patient medical record in accordance with hospital policies / procedures.
- Assists personnel in meeting patient / family learning needs; maintains communication with physicians and healthcare team members to ensure quality of care.
- Enters physician orders via computer and coordinates schedules of diagnostic testing; assists patients with written teaching protocols;
- performs assigned treatments as directed; prepares patients for meals and feeds them; performs / assists with baths; maintains patient rooms in orderly fashion;
serves as Unit Clerk and / or monitors patients as assigned.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory / continuing education and skills competency;
supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
