This position is required to work on-site 5 days a week.What we do : The Lead Experimental Design, Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting all designs and leading the manufacturing portion of the Test, Evaluation, and Certification (TEC) Team.

This position develops efficient manufacturing solutions and processes to support the test and prototype development of an EVTOL system.

It will also require developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with internal and external customers and peers.

The Lead Experimental Design, Manufacturing Engineer provides manufacturing oversight and gives feedback to leadership on technical approaches, products, and processes.

They also assist in creating standard processes and procedures within the field while working with the design team throughout the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design.

This role is heavily involved in the manufacturing and building of prototype and flight test aircraft. The Lead Experimental Design, Manufacturing Engineer will contemplate manufacturing solutions to support the installation of test instrumentation data-gathering systems to meet test program objectives.

The role involves collaboration with all technical development teams.What you can do : Lead all aspects of manufacturing and vendor trade studiesProvide manufacturing support for Tests with an emphasis on speed and efficiencyCoordinate manufacturing development activities, including DFM assessment, design reviews, procurement, and installation / integrationRun test fixture manufacturing activitiesRun prototype manufacturing activitiesProvide technical guidance and oversight to suppliers as well as design supportCraft CNC machining, additive manufacturing, and sheet metal componentsAssist TEC Leadership in prioritizing efforts based on manufacturing timelinesDocument manufacturing process and work instructionsSupport aircraft installation and integration, including writing and releasing engineering orders and functional test procedures required for flight test and production aircraftPrepare and communicate design and technical materials to management and team membersPartner with all other groups within the TEC organization to support test executionRequires up to 25% of domestic and international travelOther duties as assignedWhat you can contribute : Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or related engineering field required;

Master’s or Ph.D. degree preferredMinimum ten (10) years of experience with manufacturing or design of an aerospace system / product development (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)Experience leading a technical teamExperience developing and implementing new processes and proceduresExperience with new aircraft development, prototyping, certification, and productionExperience with supplier management and evaluation in a manufacturing capacityExperience with the assembly and testing of prototype aircraftKnowledge of ASME Y14.

5 GD&TKnowledge of certification rules and processes, including ARP 4754A, ARP 4761, DO-160Excellent verbal and written communication skillsProactive delivery of communication and follow upExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailMust have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraintsProficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office SuiteYou may also be able to contribute : Experience in Aerospace Test and Evaluation preferredExperience testing one or more of the following is preferred : Avionics, Aircraft Powertrain, Energy Storage Systems, Flight Controls, Aircraft Performance, Airframe StructuresExperience leading a team of technical personnel is preferredCATIA Experience preferredBase pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location.
