Job Title : Director of Sales

SUMMARY
Oversee the group sales operation of Sheraton Universal Hotel effectively to attain revenue goals. To sell the hotel meeting rooms and sleeping facilities and services in accordance with strategic objectives and selective selling guidelines to meet and exceed driven Group revenue components.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Present a pleasant professional image to all potential guests and clients
- Weekly telephone research professionally qualifying all local and regional outside sales calls. Appointments should be made where possible and specific information obtained prior to actual call.
This also applies to potential cold calls (non-appointment and scheduled).
- Aggressively pursue all appropriate opportunities for outside customer solicitation and relationship building including Outside Sales Calls, Civic Association Events, Trade Events, Industry Vendor Relationships, etc.
- Ensure any Out-of-town solicitation is also to be made when requested (3 5-day trips)
- Develop and maintain an active and inactive file depicting all outside sales call activity.
- Correspond with potential customers providing any requested information concerning bids, proposals, confirmation of bookings, thank you letters, follow-up letters, etc.
In conjunction with inter office colleagues; maintain accurate and up to date records of sales department functions and transactions made.
- Conduct hotel tours and entertain qualified potential clients in accordance with the company property policies.
- Local community involvement as it benefits the hotel, via approved memberships in organizations.
- Adhere to time and attendance policy as established.
- Review daily results of all activities completed by the Group Sales Managers
- Define specific individual territories and market segment for self and all Group Sales Managers.
- Assist and supervise Group Sales Manager with primary tactics for their assigned market segments.
- Research and develop annual business or marketing plans / strategic plan.
- Create or maintain reports monthly / quarterly / annual to help with Budget and goals of the department
- Contribute and work as a team member in all facets of the position.
- Perform other services and duties as requested by General Manager. May be called upon to host functions and participate in, or conduct sales blitzes, travel and work extended hours to achieve departmental goals.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESDirectly supervises Group Sales Manager and assistants. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws. QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; or two-four years related experience and / or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability writes reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, guests and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
