Project Scientist
University of California Los Angeles
Requisition Number : JPF09796
The Department of Biological Chemistry / DGSOM is recruiting for a Project Scientist position in Dr. Aparna Bhaduri's laboratory.
A Project Scientist position is available for motivated individuals within Dr. Bhaduri's laboratory at UCLA's Department of Biological Chemistry.
In this lab, we investigate cell fate specification in the developing human brain and in glioblastoma by leveraging a combination of primary tissue based experiments and stem-cell derived cortical organoids.
These projects involve both wet lab cell culture and characterization approaches as well as bioinformatic analysis. While experience in stem cell culture, organoids, and bioinformatics is desirable, it is not mandatory.
We are seeking candidates who are creative and eager to learn diverse approaches. Our lab at UCLA emphasizes fostering individual growth within a collaborative community.
We are dedicated to supporting every member's career journey.
Depending on their background, each appointee will actively participate in multiple projects and publications, immersing themselves in one of the leading institutions for biomedical research globally.
They will learn and exercise skills in organoid biology, single-cell biology, bioinformatics, cortical development and glioblastoma stem cell biology.
Job responsibilities include supporting the Principal Investigator (PI) in the design and execution of funded projects, which involves preparing cortical organoids and performing analyses including single-cell RNA-sequencing, fluorescent activated cell sorting (FACS), immunostaining and interpretation.
The role will also involve communicating with collaborators and managing multiple project streams in parallel. Additionally, responsibilities include assisting the PI in study design, managing day-to-day tasks related to project management, analyzing data, preparing and submitting manuscripts, and supervising graduate / undergraduate students as well as junior postdoctoral fellows in the group.
This General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Statement for Persons in the European Economic Area is designed to provide information regarding the types of Personal Information that the University of California's Human Resources departments and offices collects.
