With offices across North Carolina, our MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injury.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school degree or equivalent required
- AA / AS or BA / BS preferred
- Graduate of an accredited MRI technologist training program
- Minimum of one year of experience performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures
- Current CPR certification
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist registration preferred
- Licensure and / or certification as required by the State of North Carolina
- Knowledge of MRI procedures and protocols
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform MRI procedures including body mechanics and patient movement.
Specifically, knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, medical and surgical disease, and scientific principles as applied to MR scanning
Knowledge of safety hazards and contraindications for patients and all visitors within the facility
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following
- Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic imaging procedures. Places additional coils and / or immobilizes patient as required for the exam
- Assists physician during the administration of contrast media and practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures as required.
Monitors patients for allergic reactions and respond appropriately
- Determine imaging factors based on the type of scan and patient characteristics
- Thoroughly explain the process and procedure to patients to alleviate anxiety and facilitate patient cooperation. Monitor patients during a procedure to detect excessive anxiety
- Conducts examinations with regard to the patient’s age, medical condition, or other special requirements
- Screen patients and any visitors outside of the magnetic field before the exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the exam ( Pacemaker, claustrophobia, metallic objects in or on their body)
- Routinely prepares exams for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and film processing, adequate clinical history, and previous exams for comparison if available
- Performs other duties as required and assigned by Manager, including schedule changes and travel to office locations as assigned
