Metro Transit Finance and Administration Division is looking for highly organized, customer-focused Financial Accounting and Grants Manager (Transit Section Manager) to join our team. This Financial Accounting and Grants Manager is an integral member of the Finance and Administration team and will lead the financial accounting and grants administration functions for Metro Transit, ensuring that the Public Transportation Fund is appropriately reported.

This position will work under the guidance of the Assistant General Manager of Finance & Administration for Metro Transit. This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) Financial Accounting and Grants Manager (Transit Section Manager). In addition, this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility pool for future Career Service, Special Duty Assignment, and Term Limited Temporary vacancies that may occur in this classification within this workgroup. The eligibility pool will be retained for 12 months from the date of posting and may be used at the discretion of the hiring authority.

As the Financial Accounting and Grants Manager, you will :

• Oversee combination of the management of grants and financial accounting for the Metro Transit Department.
• Oversee the preparation, implementation and monitoring of financial statements and grant reporting.
• Oversee capitalization of fixed assets and annual asset inventory process.
• Analyze and interpret legislation and ensure financial statements and related financial reports in compliance with changing requirements.
• Ensure the financial accounting activities for Metro Transit are accurate and timely.
• Identify and assess department projects / programs with grantor requirements; participate in developing revenue planning for grant funding associated with Metro's capital and operating programs.
• Identify and assess policy and procedural issues and make recommendations to management on recommended courses of action.
• Manage the work of staff, including recruitment and selection, discipline and termination, work assignments, employee development and performance evaluation.
• Serve as the agency contact for federal, state and other granting agencies.
• Lead agency response to state and federal program audits.

Work Schedule This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday. Work hours are comprised of a 40-hour work week within core hours of workday, normally 6 : 00 a.m.-6 : 00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Work Location The work performed in this position is conducted in a hybrid office environment. Section Managers will be required to be on-site a minimum of three (3) days / week. The primary onsite location is the King Street Center located at 201 South Jackson Street, Seattle, WA. Teleworking Requirement The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly in a hybrid work environment working in the office and at home. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within areas on able distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
