Job Summary

Develops, manages, and improves the access to care for Nicklaus Children's Pediatric Specialists. Collaborates with teams across NCHS to create and implement a process improvement plan for access to services and promotes visibility of access to care metrics across the practices to support improvement.

Job Specific Duties

  • Reviews and revises current department policies and procedures as documented and reported, as well as, implement new policies to confirm with current practices when required, as observed and reported.
  • Responsible for creating clear structure for patient registration, scheduling, referral, authorization, and eligibility services.
  • Oversees and collaborate with division directors to support efficient placement and patient throughput across the continuum of care.
  • Create process flow to monitor and approve changes to templates.
  • Develops dashboards, reports, and reporting structure to promote visibility of access to care metrics.
  • Creates a process improvement plan that generate strategy and operational initiatives across each practice through collaborating with upper management to improve access to care.
  • Counsels practices on their access and opportunities to improve.
  • Creates, develops, and disseminates training tools for the staff.
  • Continuously focused on meeting metrics and proactively identifying areas of opportunity by working collaboratively, professionally, and fostering positive relationships with both internal and external peers.
  • Ensures optimal access to care via entry points to NCHS-affiliated entities via partnership with practice administrators to optimize provider schedules, customer care center to optimize scheduling, and all other patient access functions.
  • Promotes communication across NCHS by conducting management and staff meetings with personnel and interaction with the staff in the clinical areas on a daily basis as observed or reported.
  • Understand and be able to speak to all aspects of Patient Access from technology, processes, and regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration or Business Administration
  • 1-3 years of progressively responsible management / administrative experience in physician practice management including oversight of multiple physicians

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Master's Degree in Health Administration, or Business Administration preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.
  • Strategic, business planning, detailed implementation plans, and tactical execution experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of physician practice financials and payor reimbursement preferred.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of LEAN methodologies.
  • A systematic, logical approach to problem solving, decision making, development, and administration of systems to address day-to-day issues and the long-term improvement needs of the practice.
  • Knowledge of third party payer eligibility and authorization requirements.
  • Management and leadership skills.
  • Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with clients and co-workers; effectively monitor and develop the abilities of subordinates.
  • Computer savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Ability to learn appropriate software application(s).
  • Ability to prepare and present comprehensive reports and presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including strong listening skills.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational goals.
  • Flexibility in planning and managing projects with the ability to oversee and coordinate various activities concurrently.

Anticipate changes and adjust accordingly in a fast-paced environment to meet the competing deadlines of a variety of tasks, problems, and projects..
