School Nurse (RN / LPN) - 1 : 1 Student Support Contracted with Soliant Schools Location : Northern Philadelphia Area
Job Summary : Soliant Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate School Nurse to fill a contracted 1 : 1 nursing position at a high school in the northern Philadelphia area.
This position will involve providing specialized healthcare support to a 19-year-old student in the MDS class. The nurse will be responsible for assisting the student with various medical needs throughout the school day.
The contract will begin on September 5, 2023.
Position Details :
- Position Type : Contracted
- Position Duration : September 5, 2023 - June 14, 2024
- School Hours : 8 : 00 am - 2 : 15 pm
- Student Needs :
- Age : 19-year-old
- Class : MDS
- Transportation : No bus run required (ambulatory)
- Medical Needs :
- Drop Seizures : Escorting and wheelchair assistance during and after seizures
- Bathroom Assistance : Assisting student to the bathroom
- Medication Administration : Administering rescue medications as needed
- G-Tube Care : Performing G-tube flushes as required
Qualifications :
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Pennsylvania
- Previous experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing preferred
- Strong munication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and medical professionals
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to provide passionate care
Responsibilities :
- Provide one-on-one medical support to the designated student throughout the school day
- Monitor the student's medical needs and provide assistance as required
- Administer medications and treatments according to the student's care plan
- Assist with mobility, including escorting the student during drop seizures and providing wheelchair assistance
- Acpany the student to the bathroom and provide necessary support
- Perform G-tube flushes as needed, following proper medical protocols
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and medical professionals to ensure the student's well-being and safety
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies or unexpected situations
