MEP Project Manager - HVAC
Job Summary : The Mechanical Construction Project Manager will be responsible for managing the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping, and experience working as a subcontractor on large commercial or industrial projects.
The Project Manager will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while fostering strong relationships with clients, general contractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities :
Project Planning & Coordination : Develop and manage project plans, including schedules, resource allocation, and budgeting.
Coordinate with the project team, including engineers, foremen, and field crews, to ensure all mechanical work is completed according to specifications.
Client & Stakeholder Communication : Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, general contractors, and design teams.
Maintain clear and consistent communication to ensure that client expectations are met and project milestones are achieved.
- Budget Management : Develop project budgets, track costs, and manage change orders. Identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure that all mechanical work stays within the established financial parameters.
- Subcontractor Management : Manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. Oversee the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery to meet project schedules.
- Team Leadership : Provide leadership and direction to project teams, including field personnel, foremen, and subcontractors.
Foster a positive and productive working environment and ensure all team members are aligned with project goals.
Risk Management & Problem-Solving : Identify potential risks, such as project delays or mechanical system issues, and implement solutions to mitigate risks.
Resolve any issues that arise on the job site.
- Scheduling & Progress Tracking : Create and maintain detailed project schedules, monitor progress, and make adjustments as needed to ensure on-time completion.
- Quality Assurance : Ensure that all mechanical work is performed to the highest standards of quality and in compliance with project specifications, codes, and regulations.
Conduct regular site inspections to verify the quality of work.
- Safety Compliance : Implement and enforce safety protocols in accordance with OSHA and company standards. Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to ensure a safe job site.
- Project Closeout : Manage the project closeout process, including final inspections, punch lists, and turnover to the client.
Ensure all necessary documentation, such as as-built drawings and warranties, are completed and submitted.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Project Manager in mechanical construction, specifically with HVAC, plumbing, or piping systems.
- Experience working as a subcontractor on large commercial or industrial construction projects.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction methods, and building codes.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of cost control, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
