Locum Tenens General Surgeon 24-Hour ER & Inpatient Coverage
We are actively seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon to provide locum tenens hospital and ER coverage at a community-based facility in a Level IV Trauma setting . This opportunity arises due to a recent vacancy in a 3-surgeon practice. You'll work alongside committed local and regional providers to ensure uninterrupted surgical access and patient care.
Position Overview :
This position involves 24-hour general surgery coverage , with a typical volume of 34 patients per day , focused on routine emergency, inpatient, and consultative general surgical care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability, clinical independence, and a commitment to high-quality, timely surgical intervention.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform full-spectrum general surgery assessments, diagnostics, and procedures per established scope of practice.
- Respond to ER consults and inpatient surgical needs in a timely and clinically appropriate manner.
- Ensure accurate and thorough documentation, coding, and billing in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Collaborate with local medical staff, specialists, and transfer teams to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Provide patient and family education to support clinical understanding and care outcomes.
- Participate in care coordination, quality improvement processes, and institutional best practices as needed.
