Senior Hardware Engineer

Overview

Wunderlich-Malec Services is a 100% employee-owned ESOP and one of the largest and most well-established (35+ years) engineering companies in the United States. We have a Sr. Hardware Engineer position available in our Eden Prairie, MN office. This person will provide team leadership in delivering automation systems for a wide variety of industries.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate technical proficiency in implementing automation solutions with PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms; interact directly with customers; lead a team of Wunderlich-Malec engineers in identifying requirements, developing specifications, and shepherding automation solutions through the production process.
• Deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards, either self-directed or as a team leader; conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery to meet customer requirements; develop control system architecture, select components, detail schematics and system documentation, and possess functional knowledge of PLC / HMI / SCADA systems.
• In-depth knowledge of control hardware including control panel design, UL508A familiarity, motor control centers, hazardous area panel design, and industrial instrumentation; engineering experience with multiple voltage levels.
• For larger systems, design, detail, and implement fiber, wired, and wireless networks using industrial protocols (Ethernet / IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
• Project management responsibilities : develop project execution plans, work breakdown structures and budgets, task prioritization and scheduling, task ordering, time tracking and reporting, financial tracking and reporting, early problem identification, conflict management / resolution, leading and supporting a team, and attending project status meetings; oversee daily operations and activities of projects up to $1M; ensure overall profitability.
• Act as technical lead on projects and guide lower-level engineers and technicians; may act as Project Manager on smaller projects.

Minimum Requirements

Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical / Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science is required.

Experience

Greater than 10 years with capabilities in below areas is preferred :

Physical Demands

Seeing, color perception, hearing, clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, ability to mount / dismount equipment, pushing and pulling.

Working Environment

Standard office environment, on-site office environment, diverse industrial environments, frequent use of a personal computer, facsimile / copy machines, phones.
