HOURS
- 10 hours per week - options forremote or hybrid scheduling available
- This grant-funded position is funded through 10 / 1 / 2025
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or Equivalent International Diploma, and a current student in good standing with Herzing University.
- Strong preference given to military connected students
PRIMARY DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of peer mentor will be responsible for the below tasks and responsibilities.
- Provide 1 : 1 and group mentorship to new military-connected students, acting as a positive role model for students
- Serve as a resource for students, helping them identify appropriate University resources available to them
- Communicate with the project coordinator or counselor of any students who need a higher level of care
- Maintain confidentiality of any shared information
- Contribute to building community within the CVESS program by doing tasks such as monitoring the Canvas chat and creating helpful student resources
- Attend social gatherings put on by the CVESS program
- Participate in all required training
- Maintain mentor logs, paperwork and records as required
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Must present a neat, professional appearance
- Ability to serve as a resource and role model to peers
- Must be extremely reliable in working the scheduled hours
- Must follow all campus policies for students and employees
- Must be a student of Herzing University and in good academic standing
- Able to interact well with students, faculty and staff
- Self-motivated with a genuine desire to help students succeed
- Sound judgment, organizational skills, and a strong student services orientation
- Able to communicate effectively through excellent oral and writing skills
- Ability to make independent decisions and make recommendations
