Overview
Performs nursing care procedures involving initial patient assessment, evaluation, and preliminary testing to meet patient needs;
assists Physician with the care of patient.
Qualifications
- Current CPR card.
- Strong computer skills for documentation purposes in the electronic medical record.
- Good nursing assessment and judgment skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work well with providers, nursing staff, and outside health care agencies and providers.

Education and / or Other Requirements
Must possess a current Licensed Practical Nurse certification and be a graduate of an approved school of practical nursing.
Previous experience in an ambulatory care setting is preferred.

- Repetitive hand motion and good body posture due to extended use of computer systems for patient documentation and other purposes.

Responsibilities
- Collects and documents patient data.
- Differentiates among patient urgencies.
- Establishes priorities and collaborates with Providers on care plans.
- Screens telephone calls from patients and evaluates for referral.
- Assists physicians and prepares patients for procedures.
- Provides and documents care according to established standards.
- Assumes personal responsibility for quality patient care, environment of care, and professional development.
- Demonstrates department specific competencies.
- Supports and maintains joint commission standard.
- Documents vitals, history, meds, procedures, and instructions according to policies and standards.
