Summary
The Master Scheduler plans, organizes, and controls the monthly master production schedule. This position determines the most efficient and economic production plan and capacity plan with lead time requirements and expected manufacturing needs.
The monthly master production schedule is what drives the forecast for purchased materials. Establishing the master schedule involves working closely with the Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Sales Organizations to coordinate manufacturing plans that achieve the global company objectives relative to customer service, resource / capacity utilization and low inventory investment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Thoroughly understands and advises on managing short / long term capacities
- Works with the Materials Team to coordinate the monthly production of safety stock or targeted finished goods inventory
- Tracks and manages the accuracy and effectiveness of the master schedules to work through adjustments to forecast and to continuously improve the overall master scheduling process
- Oversees the master schedules and ensures comprehensive compliance with materials requirements for manufacturing
- Continuous reviews of inventory levels and inventory costs to ensure optimum manufacturing lead times and raw material timing
- Creates, communicates and measures realistic production requirements to support customer demand
- Drives inventory improvement efforts which meet both customer service needs as well as meeting goal objectives
- Prepares and analyzes production data and open capacity reports to allocate plant resources effectively
- Reviews daily production and backlog information to control overload or past due situations
- Works with plant personnel to ascertain if the established plan is being met or if problems are anticipated
- Works with inventory controls on machine returns in the system and track them accordingly
- Reviews, maintains, and reconciles customer and supplier issues
- Assists, guides, and supports the manufacturing leads in their roles
- Provides a daily demand and forecast update
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a manufacturing plant environment preferred, with 4 years as a Production Scheduler
- Experience with SAP a plus
- Experience with a fully integrated ERP package is required
- Knowledge of ISO requirements a plus
- Effective presenter, excellent written and verbal communication and a successful track record of customer relationships as well as writing and presenting winning proposals at decision-making customer levels
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively after groups of customers or employees of organization
- Extensive PC knowledge, including database, spreadsheet and web skills
- Detail oriented, able to manage multiple priorities

Office Setting
- Choice of sitting or standing or alternating between them (stand-up desk optional)
- Keyboarding / typing on a computer for extended periods of time
- Moderate noise, i.e., phones, printer, light foot traffic
