The Nurse Educator (Clinical Education and Development) is a Registered Nurse (RN) with expertise in nursing professional development, influencing professional role competence and growth of learners.

This position works in collaboration with nursing leadership to foster competency management, clinical nursing education, professional role development, policy standardization, partnerships, scientific inquiry, and onboarding / orientation of new colleagues.

The practitioner is an essential member of the nursing leadership team promoting regional NPD and practice excellence alignment with the healthcare system as a whole.

Qualifications

  • BSN required and enrolled in a Master's program with degree completion within two years of hire date.
  • Minimum of 3 years of active clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an acute care environment.
  • Experience as a preceptor and relevant teaching experience preferred.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse from the CT DPH obtained prior to hire date.
  • NPD or Clinical Specialty Certification within two years of hire / transfer.
  • BLS required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver, and evaluate educational programs.
  • Working knowledge of high reliability and LEAN process improvement strategies.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to education for promoting continuous quality improvement in patient care.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
