Part-Time Lecturer Pool
POSITION
The Department of Geological Sciences at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool.
We welcome applications from experienced, student-centered individuals to teach in any areas of Geological Sciences.
This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.
APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- An advanced degree (i.e. Masters or ADB, PhD, EdD) in Geology or a related field.
- Candidates should have prior teaching experience at the university level.
- Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Preference will be given to those with significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
- Preference will also be given to those with relevant performance and professional experience.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE AND THE DEPARTMENT
The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM) is one of eight colleges at CSUF and contains five departments. The college offers through its departments and programs, baccalaureate degrees in all disciplines and master's degrees in biological science, chemistry, geology, physics and mathematics.
The Department of Geological Sciences offers two undergraduate degrees B.S. in Geology and B.A. in Earth Science, an M.S.
in Geology, and a minor in Geology. Nearly all of our courses include high-impact field and / or lab learning environments with ample opportunity for original student research.
Both our B.S. and M.S. in Geology require an intensive thesis. Our B.A. in Earth Science is designed to offer maximum flexibility to enable students to choose a set of courses that align with their academic and career goals.
APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December;
the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association.
Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range : $5,007 - $6,359 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $5,925 per month.
