What You Will Do :

The Managing Consultant Impact Evaluation position requires someone with subject matter expertise in evaluation, measurement, and verification (EM&V) to evaluate Energy Efficiency Programs.

We are seeking candidates with related experience in impact evaluation, engineering analysis, and working with data collected from the field.

Successful candidates should have experience estimating impacts from energy efficiency programs within the residential and commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors, including both prescriptive and custom projects.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Managing projects and leading teams to deliver high quality impact evaluation
  • Assessing energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies through engineering analysis, energy modeling, and field data collection
  • Analyzing large and / or complex custom energy efficiency (electric and gas) projects at commercial and industrial sites
  • Reviewing engineering-based energy savings assumptions and providing guidance on evaluation approaches
  • Performing complex technical and economic analyses, spreadsheet creation, and project / task management.
  • Ensuring tasks are completed within project timelines and budgets and in adherence to quality standards
  • Maintaining and strengthening existing client relationships
  • Mentoring and training junior team members
  • Collaborating and managing subcontractors
  • Developing and presenting reports, memos, and presentations to deliver research findings to clients
  • While not required for the position, our staff have the opportunity to perform fieldwork including performance measurement and field data collection of building and industrial process energy systems

What You Will Need :

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering, environmental science, and / or related discipline AND post-graduation work experience with impact evaluation and engineering analyses excluding internships, co-ops, graduate research, and fellowships :
  • Bachelor's degree AND 5+ years of relevant industry or consulting experience; Or
  • Master's degree AND 3+ years of relevant industry or consulting experience
  • Relevant industries to this role are commercial Energy Providers, Federal Civilian Agencies, or State & Local Governments
  • Demonstrated work experience with evaluation, measurement, and verification ( EM&V ) in the utility space
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including experience working with clients
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to clients or executive audiences
  • Strong interest in energy efficiency and sustainability
  • An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Currently reside in the contiguous United States
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to work in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location 1-3x per week as needed

What Would Be Nice To Have :

  • Preference will be given to candidates within reasonable driving distance of a listed core Guidehouse Office or Client Office
  • Experience in analysis of energy savings or consumption (electric and gas) for common energy efficiency measures for residential, commercial, or industrial sectors (such as lighting, HVAC, motors and drives, industrial processes, controls, weatherization, electrification, and / or custom measures)
  • Experience in conducting analysis of consumption, metering, AMI data
  • Experience with building energy modeling, including experience with residential and commercial building simulation tools (e.

g., EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, BEopt, Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, IESVE)

  • Experience with ASHRAE Level 1 Audits
  • Experience in multiple sectors and multiple types of evaluation (such as upstream, midstream, downstream)
  • Field experience collecting primary data, such as energy usage data, equipment operation data, or equipment characteristics for the purposes of building energy audits or energy savings analyses
  • Knowledge of and experience with technical reference manuals (TRMs)
  • Experience implementing energy efficiency programs for commercial Energy Providers, Federal Civilian Agencies, or State & Local Governments
  • Excellent at visualizing data, synthesizing insights, and storytelling with data
  • Experience training and mentoring junior staff

The annual salary range for this position is $109,100.00-$163,700.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
