The Compensation Group Manager is accountable for management of complex / critical / large professional disciplinary areas.
Leads and directs a team of professionals. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function.
Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity.
Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses / geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level.
Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning.
Primarily affects a sub-function. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.
Responsibilities :
- Aids in ensuring that the firm has competitive and cost effective reward policies and practices.
- Responsible for developing and executing the firm's reward strategy, manage the key areas of reward, benefits and pensions and liaise with third parties to develop a consistent best practice approach.
- Ensures that reward practices are compliant with the relevant regulatory recommendations and requirements are also covered in this function.
- Applies specific functional expertise in Compensation principles, practices and procedures in the completion of complex assignments.
May be responsible for designing and implementing plans for a function or business unit within a region. May develop strategy that has notable impact on compensation end results.
- Coordinates annual compensation process for salary review, bonuses and stock awards.
- Conducts benchmarking, market, and internal equity analyses. Performs targeted bonus and stock analyses.
- Serves as a reference for salary recommendations, and perform job evaluations in connection with same.
- Applies expertise in compensation principles, practices and procedures to conduct compensation and benefits programs.
- Performs job and compensation analytics and develop compensation process improvements utilizing People Soft, HRIS systems, and Visual Basic.
- Manages multiple projects across multiple work streams.
- Provides ongoing training to compensation and HR generalist teams on variety of compensation subjects.
- Provides consultation and respond to inquiries from HR generalists and business managers on compensation, recognition-related issues and process improvements.
- Works closely with subject matter experts to develop and modify compensation strategy, policy and approach for Citi entities in Latin America, EMEA, Asia Pacific and North America.
- Liaises with global, senior HR officials to ensure data quality, integrity and consistency during compensation analysis and program transitions.
- Manages a team or multiple teams of Compensation professionals. Responsible for hiring, compensation, performance appraisals, staff development, training, etc.

- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications :
- 10+ years of experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on MS Excel
- Self-motivated and detail oriented
- Proactive leadership and motivational skills
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Proven influencing and relationship management skills
Education :
Bachelors / University degree, Masters degree preferred
