Nursing Clinical Instructor or Assistant Professor
Classification Summary :
Teach the equivalent of 36 weekly clock / contact hours over fall, spring and summer semesters to provide clinical and clinical related instruction.
Teaching assignment may include evenings, weekends, teaching at multiple campus or health care agency locations for various and multiple clinical courses.
Teaching may include teaching online clinical courses. Develop, revise and update clinical curriculum in collaboration with the department faculty and director / chair to update clinical experiences correlate with course objectives and student learning outcomes.
Instruct, supervise, support, advise and provide timely feedback to students in accordance with DACC policy and procedures.
Participate in and serve on department, division, and college committees, program advisory councils, task forces and working groups as part of DACC faculty requirments.
Participate in ongoing program evaluation including maintenance of the systematic plan of evaluation and preparation of reports for NM Board of Nursing and / or accreditation.
Maintain professional and academic competence and participate in professional development activities. As appropriate, assist with cooperative education or clinical work site development and student placement.
Maintain office hours as mandated by division and college policy. Function as advisor to students, both individually and as assigned to student clubs and groups.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Classification Standard Duties :
Required Education, Experience, Certification / License, Equivalency
Minimum : BSN If employed with BSN may be employed for one year and then required to complete a graduate degree in nursing (MSN), within the next five years.
An educational contract with evidence of progression will be submitted to the New Mexico Board of Nursing annually.
- Active, unencumbered New Mexico nursing icensure, or a compact state license, or eligibility to obtain a New Mexico license to practice as a registered nurse required within 3 months of hire
- 1-2 years working or teaching experience that reflects recent developments in Nursing, or any equivalent combination of work and teaching experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science Degree in Nursing
- 4-6 years nursing experience in acute care
- 1-2 years clinical experience
- Community college / post-secondary teaching experience.
- Knowledge of innovative, creative teaching and learning methodologies for post-secondary students.
- Experience with media, evolving instructional technologies, and distance learning programs and delivery.
- Experience in developing curriculum, measuring student-learning outcomes, evaluating course efficacy, and assessing and improving student learning.
- Endorsement of the teaching philosophy of DACC, which supports a goal of success for all students through active learning experiences and strong faculty involvement.
- Demonstrated experience teaching and relating to students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with students, colleagues, staff, supervisors and the community.
- Multilingual competence
